NHRA’s newest racing category, Jr Street, features young adults from ages 13 to 16 years old racing for glory. These young adults, with a parent/guardian in the passenger seat, race at the local track level before taking on the best in the West Central Division at the ET Finals. This year, at Rock Falls Raceway, Nolan Berghammer was that Champion.
In the 2023 racing season, the Red Wing MN resident took the family 2010 Chevrolet Camaro into the Jr Street with a plan. Utilizing his experience gained from Jr Dragsters and previously driving the Camaro, Berghammer started the season the way any of us would want to—eliminating all the competition and winning the first event! While Berghammer scored a couple more wins in the 2023 season, it was his consistency that gained the championship finish. Through the 10 races he attended, there was only one occasion that Berghammer was eliminated in round one, gaining EIGHT final round appearances through the season battle with second place Ellie Linberg.
While not racing at the track, Berghammer enjoys his activities outside of racing as well. An avid fisher, Berghammer fills his winters by riding the great outdoors on quads and snowmobiles. Also included in winter activities is playing for Red Wing Wingers football team as a Guard/Defensive Tackle. Not the position you wanna upset!
