Improving Safety for All

Over the 2025 season, we were proud to repave the shutdown area of Rock Falls Raceway. With this hard work of course comes some drawbacks. We noticed a significant increase in racers complaining that the shutdown transition was ‘too smooth’, leading to issues of knowing when the lift. “It’s just too damn smooth!” said renowned racer Willie Grey. “I almost ended up in the pea gravel trap the first time I made a pass!”

With the safety of all racers in mind, we made the decision to install rumble strips on the new asphalt to signify when racers need to lift. These rumble strips are located just past the finish line, as well as 250’ prior to the first turn off. We are hopeful that this will allow racers to have notice when it is time to slow their vehicles down.

Rock Falls Raceway would also like to thank a handful of racers for their financial support to get this project accomplished. “We’re working on a brand new eight-way adjustable shock package specifically for racers at RFR”, said Mike Mans of FastShocks, “By the third or fourth test pass I was able to keep the car straight after going over the ‘strips. I do think I’ll be ordering a poured seat though, because the rattling was intense at about 70mph. I don’t want to test it at full speed until I get my new seat!”
